The Backstory:

"Blue Hawaii" was directed by Norman Taurog and sees the King of Rock 'n' Roll as Chad and Joan Blackman as his leading lady Maile. The movie features the most songs in an Elvis film with 14 tracks and the soundtrack spent 79 weeks on the Billboard charts!

Thus, "Blue Hawaii" is a fan favorite.

Many musicians tried their hand at acting, but only Elvis Presley founded his own film genre: the Elvis film. In his roles, Elvis played racing drivers, lifeguards and rock stars, to whom the prettiest girls succumbed by the dozen. As a rule, the film hero Elvis needed nothing more than his voice and his hip swing. For Elvis, the film career became a second mainstay and helped him to market his albums worldwide.

Even though it's a scene from a film set, the pose and intimacy in this shot shows the softer side of Elvis Presley. The film is filled with lightness and gives you a feeling of joie de vivre on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The scene lights up every room and even the smallest corner with sunshine!
